Educating for a Sustainable Future

Responsibly, Inclusively and Transparently

Almasar Education operates and supports a portfolio of education institutions with the aim to make education more inclusive and accessible for all. Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles are embedded across our business operations and in our governance, investment and operating decisions. Our purpose is to expand opportunity through education. Doing that well means promoting sustainable practices, strengthening communities and upholding the highest standards of ethics and accountability across every institution we operate.

Sustainability

Our Commitment

We align Group objectives with the needs of the communities our institutions serve, delivering positive societal outcomes while creating long‑term, sustainable value.

How We Deliver Impact (Group → Institution)

  • Purpose led: Expanding access to inclusive, high quality higher education and SEC provision, alongside skills development that drives local economic impact. New programs are launched in high-growth and priority sectors such as health sciences, sports, tourism, fintech and legal technology, ensuring alignment with regional economies and emerging workforce needs. In parallel, in the SEC segment, expansion of daycare centers and the development of residential facilities for higher acuity needs are widening access to specialized services and strengthening long-term impact in KSA.
  • Regionally Aligned: Translating Group policy into campus‑level plans that respond to national priorities and community needs.
  • Evidence‑driven: Setting measurable Group targets, tracking campus KPIs and improving year on year. This includes student outcomes, with 76% of MDX Dubai graduates in 2024 receiving a job offer within six months of graduation.
  • Partner enabled: Working with government, industry and civil society to scale impact across our network. The establishment of the Middlesex Innovation Hub in 2024 reflects this commitment, fostering student entrepreneurship and practical innovation.

Social

Policy, safeguarding standards, talent frameworks and inclusion goals.

  • Student Success: Evidence-led teaching, academic support and employability services aligned to market demand. HDC daycare centres have consistently held the highest A+ rating from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development including 2024/2025, MDX Dubai was awarded 5 stars (the highest possible rating) by KHDA in 2022, and Abu Dhabi University is ranked top 200 globally and number one in the Arab World for Business in 2025.
  • Wellbeing and Safety: Safe, supportive environments with safeguarding, trained staff, and wellbeing services on every campus.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Fair access and inclusive practices in admissions, scholarships, hiring, promotion and leadership; equal opportunity for all, with gender equality a flagship focus of the MDX Institute of Sustainable Development.
  • Learning and Development: Continuous professional development for faculty and staff, with pathways for leadership and pedagogical excellence.
  • Community Impact: Volunteering, service learning and partnerships with schools, NGOs and industry to widen participation and social mobility. This includes scholarships and grants offered in universities, making higher education more accessible, as well as tailored programs that are raising the standards for Special Needs Education and Care (SEC)
  • Economic Empowerment:. We create meaningful employment pathways for Saudi nationals, strengthening workforce participation and leadership across the Kingdom.
Social

Environment

Set policies, standards and targets; prioritise projects; monitor outcomes.

  • Climate and Energy: Group efficiency standards and a roadmap to reduce operational emissions; institutions deliver upgrades and procure renewable electricity where available.
  • Built Environment: Green design and retrofit guidelines (lighting, HVAC, insulation, smart controls); lifecycle impact considered for all new projects.
  • Sustainable Travel: Group policies for lower‑emission business travel; campuses promote public transport and virtual collaboration.
  • Circular Economy (Operations): Reduce, reuse, recycle; eliminate unnecessary single-use through Group procurement standards; minimise waste and recover materials. Middlesex University Dubai partners with Simply Bottles (a DGrade initiative) to supports the elimination of nonPET plastic on campus.
  • Student Engagement: Higher Education Student‑led green clubs run composting initiatives, beach clean‑ups and sustainability awareness campaigns, building a culture of environmental stewardship across campuses.
Environment

Governance

Oversight, policy and assurance.

  • Strategy and Performance: Sustainable growth and shareholder‑return enhancement are anchored in a clear vision and actionable plan at the core of the Group’s strategy.
  • Board Governance: ESG is owned at the Group level. The ESG Committee integrates performance and risk into strategy. A diverse Board, including three independent members, provide robust challenge and guidance.
  • Ethics and Compliance: Codes of conduct, controls, conflict‑of‑interest disclosures and mandatory training. ESG considerations are embedded in decision‑making to ensure best‑in‑class corporate governance.
  • Data Privacy and Digital Responsibility: Group policies for data protection, cyber security and responsible AI, applied to teaching and operations.
  • Responsible Procurement: Supplier Code of Conduct is embedded in all contracts.
  • Reporting and Assurance: Sustainable accounting policies and high‑quality reporting practices underpin transparency and support long‑term shareholder value maximisation.
